Open mate-terminal -> Edit -> Profile Preferences -> General, now look at the "Select-by-word characters" setting, you'll most likely find ":" included there. gnome-terminal had an option like that in F21 but it was removed in recent releases of gnome-terminal i.e. the version in F22.
