As far as I know, that's been supported for a long, long time. I don't remember a time when it wasn't.
However, on UEFI, /boot/efi on RAID is not supported. I'm not sure I understand all the reasons for that, but I'm actually going to be experimenting this weekend to see whether that works for a partition with 0.90 or 1.0 metadata, and a system that does not boot Windows.
