Are you just trying to do typical video editing? Cutting scenes, adding a
soundtrack, titles, etc? I don't think Blender is the right tool as it's
more geared to 3D design.

You might be better off using a tool like Openshot or Kdenlive, both are
available at RPM Fusion (because of the dependence on FFMpeg).

Openshot does basic stuff internally but actually does use Blender to
render advanced titles. It can be a little quirky sometimes and the 2.0
release is long overdue but it's pretty usable.
