I did get a longer antenna for the Linksys WRT54GL WiFi router. I also tried to set up a WiFi repeater (SilverCrest SWR 300 a1) but could not get it working under Fedora or Windows. I have thought of using a TP-Link which is set up on my system. But basically I just wondered if anyone had an answer to my query. The WiFi connection is only lost about once a day, so re-booting is not really a serious annoyance. I would have thought re-starting NetworkManager would re-start the network connection in the same way as re-booting, but it seems that is not so.
