Anyone happen to know what kind of integration I should expect from
F21's XFCE spin's desktop, vis-a-vis playing DVDs?

I have vlc installed. If I drop a DVD in, the icon for the disk does
appear on the desktop, but clicking on it simply opens the file browser.
Which isn't very useful.

I can start vlc manually, and tell it to play the disk, and that's fine.
But too many steps.

After creating a desktop icon that executes "vlc /dev/sr0", I now have a
permanent icon on the desktop, that starts dvd playback, after the dvd
is inserted, which is fine, but I wouldn't expect non-technical users to
figure out how to do this.

Incidentally, the desktop's "Parole media player" can't handle the
playback, and pops up with a "gstreamer back end error, could not get
title information for the dvd", but vlc is fine.

Go to "Applications Menu->Settings->Removable Drives and Media". Select
the "Multimedia" tab, then make sure you have the appropriate stuff
checked. By default, the system will try to use gstreamer, but you can
put in your desired commands.
