So, I create a livecd and then I can install openbox and pnmixer while running 
off the livecd? Could you please confirm this? I did not know that this was 
possible, thanks!

Btw, my laptop came back up but froze shortly after -- a minute or two into the 
wakeup. And then I was again thrown into the failsafe mode, which asked me to 
give the root password (but I do not haev a root password set so not sure what 
to do) and to look at journalctl -xb in order to see what is wrong. I did not 
know how to get around the root password and so I hit Ctrl-D to login. Once 
logged in, I got the journalctl -xb output. And I posted it (after removing the 
machine name on the network) here:
