I think Tim's point is that you don't need an exploding number of spins for every desktop out there, of which there are many. Personally I use KDE but do much of my mailing with Evolution, so I have the necessary Gnome libraries for that. One desktop doesn't rule out using bits of another. Having a DE-specific spin is a convenience but is in no way a requirement. poc
