Hi all,

Up to fedora 18, I was used to install 32-bit packages in my 64-bit
system by adding the ".i686" as suffix for the package.
However, this does not seem to work for some packages in fedora 19.
For example:

# yum install java-1.7.0-openjdk.i686
Loaded plugins: auto-update-debuginfo, langpacks, refresh-packagekit
adobe-linux-x86_64 | 951 B 00:00 fedora/19/x86_64/metalink | 32 kB 00:00 fedora | 4.2 kB 00:00 updates/19/x86_64/metalink | 30 kB 00:00 updates | 4.6 kB 00:00 (1/2): updates/19/x86_64/primary_db | 6.8 MB 00:07 (2/2): fedora/19/x86_64/primary_db | 17 MB 00:12 adobe-linux-x86_64/primary | 1.2 kB 00:00 fedora/19/x86_64/group_gz | 384 kB 00:00 updates/19/x86_64/group_gz | 385 kB 00:00
adobe-linux-x86_64 2/2
No package java-1.7.0-openjdk.i686 available.
Error: Nothing to do

How can I fix this? I had similar problems with boost-static (due to
a missing dependency), and I downloaded the rpm file & manually
installed it. Is there a better solution?

George

Hello,

you are using fedora 19, right? It comes with java 1.8.
