When you have a VM running it will have its own "window". At the top of the
Machine's window there is a list of menu items....

Machine View Devices Help

Under "Devices" there is a "Install Guest Additions" selection.

Selecting this will attach a CD to the VM. What happens next will depend on
what is running in the VM. If it is a Windows VM it will run "auto-setup".
Also, if you are running Linux and have GNOME as your DE it will prompt to run.
In the case of other DE's you have to mount the CD and execute the script
manually.
