the grub-configuration abd grub itself in the MBR is usally not touch at upgrades which is good because it is usually harmless having an older bootloader and people who cae cna update it any time - the bootloader is very critical and i would not have much fun if it would be automatically updated and possibly breaks man grub2-mkconfig man grub2-install which are both different things one geneartes the config and one installs the current version in the MBR
