I just bought an XPS13 and installed F18 on it, replacing the shipped
OS.

Backlight control is not working, but I developed a very simple
work-around that re-enables it under Fedora.

This will probably be fixed in some future kernel update.

I installed the KDE desktop and its power management is configured to
hibernate upon critically low battery. I had to disable that because,
apparently, hibernate is not working and KDE somehow thinks the
battery is critically low after wake-up from sleep sometimes even when
it isn't. I didn't try to debug that because I never really want
hibernate. There's probably a bug in KDE power management.

Sleep/wake works fine.

I purchased a mini display port to VGA adapter to be able to project
at the office and that works fine. Just unplug it *before* suspending
the laptop because there seems to be a bug that freezes the machine
upon wake-up, if you do not.

You need to create a USB boot disk from the Fedora ISO and enable boot
from USB to install. There are plenty of references on the Web for
doing that.

It's a very fine laptop.
