Wow! Many, many thanks. Really. Everything went as you wrote, but the last step failed - there is no signature. This is UEFI boot enabled, dual booting F18 and Win8 (it that's what the missing signature error is referring to). Attached is a cleaned typescript2.txt showing errors (I didn't start it from the beginning, sorry, but everything went exactly as you wrote). I'll wait for your reply before I give up and try to reinstall kernel.
