Is there in F18 a successor to Vbetool? Its usefulness went far beyond setting the video at boot time.
In sevaerl occassions I hacve had to kill X but this leaves the video card in a bad state and I can no longer have a text display until I reboot. In F17 vbetool could be used for resetting the video card to a sane state. Now I am forced to reboot.
