HI I am sorry about that.. I saw the problem as a Linux issue and not a Ubuntu/Red Hat/Debian issue. Looks like the answer is user configuration error.. My feeling is that as a Linux user I should be able to follow instructions and install applications correctly. As it turned out... I misconfigured something.. And needed someone to hit me with the Clue Stick. Which, again, I didn't see as a problem associated with a particular distribution. I apologize to everyone that I upset. That wasn't my goal..
