keytable is no longer needed font=true is simply wrong remove them from the grub-config and /etc/default/grub i am not sure which is the KEYMAP for US but below the german settings [root@srv-rhsoft:~]$ cat /etc/vconsole.conf FONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYMAP=de-latin1-nodeadkeys
