        oh no. gaaak!  ubuntu has this "thumb" deal on it's slim red-line.
        it took me hours of diggging to get rid of the "thumb" and back to
        a regular scroll bar.  [[  if that's what you mean. ]]  the only 
        advise I have is to ask   on the gtk lists.
