Arthur C. Clarke moment in fact. "It's full of stars" is from the book
of 2001, not the movie. Also, the Discovery goes to Saturn, not Jupiter,
but Kubrick thought Saturn's rings would be too hard to film. Just
thought I'd throw that in :-)
