Looking at the Fedora 18 from a Live Cd I found that Gnome is following the tradition of not following its tradition. Clicking on Activities no longer gives you Applications item at the top. Together with the standard applications on the left side of the screen you get a icon that looks like a rectangle of rectangles. Clicking on the at gives you the previous Application display.
