After upgrading from f16 to f17 a couple of weeks ago using preupgrade and then doing an initial 'yum update', everything worked fine - the yum update worked.
This weekend tried to do a yum update on either my lagtop or server and I get the same error condition: --> Processing Dependency: libxapian.so.22()(64bit) for package: zeitgeist-0.9.0-1.fc17.x86_64 --> Running transaction check ---> Package kmod-nvidia-3.4.0-1.fc17.x86_64.x86_64 1:295.53-1.fc17.3 will be installed ---> Package xapian-core-libs.x86_64 0:1.2.9-1.fc17 will be installed --> Processing Dependency: /sbin/depmod for package: 1:kmod-nvidia-3.3.5-2.fc16.x86_64-295.53-1.fc16.1.x86_64 Package module-init-tools-3.16-5.fc17.x86_64 is obsoleted by kmod-7-1.fc17.x86_64 which is already installed --> Processing Dependency: /sbin/depmod for package: 1:kmod-nvidia-3.3.7-1.fc16.x86_64-295.53-1.fc16.1.x86_64 Package module-init-tools-3.16-5.fc17.x86_64 is obsoleted by kmod-7-1.fc17.x86_64 which is already installed --> Finished Dependency Resolution --> Running transaction check ---> Package kernel.x86_64 0:3.3.5-2.fc16 will be erased --> Processing Dependency: kernel-uname-r = 3.3.5-2.fc16.x86_64 for package: 1:kmod-nvidia-3.3.5-2.fc16.x86_64-295.53-1.fc16.1.x86_64 ---> Package kernel-devel.x86_64 0:3.3.5-2.fc16 will be erased --> Running transaction check ---> Package kmod-nvidia-3.3.5-2.fc16.x86_64.x86_64 1:295.53-1.fc16.1 will be erased --> Processing Dependency: /sbin/depmod for package: 1:kmod-nvidia-3.3.7-1.fc16.x86_64-295.53-1.fc16.1.x86_64 Package module-init-tools-3.16-5.fc17.x86_64 is obsoleted by kmod-7-1.fc17.x86_64 which is already installed --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: 1:kmod-nvidia-3.3.7-1.fc16.x86_64-295.53-1.fc16.1.x86_64 (@rpmfusion-nonfree-updates/16) Requires: /sbin/depmod Removing: kmod-7-1.fc17.x86_64 (@anaconda-0) Not found Updated By: kmod-7-2.fc17.x86_64 (updates) Not found Available: module-init-tools-3.16-5.fc17.x86_64 (fedora) Not found You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem ** Found 8 pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows: compiz-0.9.5.92.1-0.2.gite676f1b12eb8db3a76978eed5bfc7c2cf9a0b6ce.fc16.x86_64 has missing requires of libboost_serialization-mt.so.1.47.0()(64bit) compiz-gtk-0.9.5.92.1-0.2.gite676f1b12eb8db3a76978eed5bfc7c2cf9a0b6ce.fc16.x86_64 has missing requires of libboost_serialization-mt.so.1.47.0()(64bit) compiz-plugins-main-0.9.5.92-1.fc16.x86_64 has missing requires of libboost_serialization-mt.so.1.47.0()(64bit) libcompizconfig-0.9.5.92-1.fc16.x86_64 has missing requires of libboost_serialization-mt.so.1.47.0()(64bit) netbeans-ide-6.9-5.fc16.noarch has missing requires of netbeans-platform12 >= ('0', '6.9', None) sane-backends-drivers-scanners-1.0.22-10.fc16.i686 has missing requires of sane-backends = ('0', '1.0.22', '10.fc16') sane-backends-drivers-scanners-1.0.22-10.fc16.i686 has missing requires of sane-backends-libs(x86-32) = ('0', '1.0.22', '10.fc16') sane-backends-drivers-scanners-1.0.22-10.fc17.x86_64 is a duplicate with sane-backends-drivers-scanners-1.0.22-10.fc16.i686 So, how can I proceed?
