It could be just broken hardware, mine was like that, but I found out too late to do anything about it (I never used it, at first). Mine's a completely different laptop, but the situation is similar. My microphone output is low in audio, with a lot of noise, and with a significant DC offset. Increasing the gain doesn't help with the audio, enough, and the added noise makes it even worse.
