No, because I was only researching the application in question. Yes, I now know that it's possible to mount your nfs partitions so that this can't happen, but at the time I was discussing a possible way for a program to avoid it even if the partitions are hard mounted. (What if you don't have control over the mounting, and your sysadmin insists on using hard mounts?) Not, of course, because I expect it to be done but because I found the possibility interesting in and of itself.
