Yes it appeared to be a initramfs-3.3.0-8.fc16.x86_64.img it was
originally much smaller than previous kernels
So i "yum reinstall  kernel-3.3.0-8.fc16.x86_64" and this time it
created a much larger and working initramfs  
Don't know want cause the initial yum update of the kernel to fail to
create a working inittramfs !
