Yes, I tried the obvious, having someone bring up the machine, unmount
/home, and then commenting out the /home in /etc/fstab (tried noauto
first). Didn't help. Yes I did it in the boot fstab too. More didn't help.
Why not boot the pc from a recovery cd/dvd/usb stick and let it mount
the root fs and chroot to it. Then you can yum install/remove packages
and edit config files.
