I can  sympathise, having had little luck trying to install Fedora 16
myself. The last successful attempt, well to some degree, was with a
network install CD and doing a text install, (change the anaconda
options by adding text to the end). Unfortunately this results in a
minimal install, so you will have to use yum to install everything else.
A tedious task at best.
