Yep, that'll do it.  ;-)

What desktop environment do you use?  What is the output of:
rpm -qa '*pulseaudio*'

Does your HDMI audio work if you manually run 'start-pulseaudio-x11'?
If not, does 'pacmd info' actually print something after its run?
