It's not related to the nvidia driver, because it has started to hit me too
(using ATI Radeon) since a few days. Opening the top-right user menu 
sometimes freezes entire gnome-shell. Though, firefox has also started
to freeze since some days ago. Fedora 16 has become less stable compared
with its release IMO.
