We can't really help you with software that someone else wrote. We'd really like to, but we don't know anything about it. A comment on http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Xerox/Xerox-WorkCentre_7242: I got this printer working with this driver: "Generic PCL 5c Printer Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5c" Tested and works: Colors, Ink/Toner level This might be a better plan for you.
