I have had lockups for the past week as well (they do not go away, have to reboot). I am on LXDE. I suspected firefox as well as it was the only app active at the time, but with average number of tabs (less than 10), one youtube, etc. No proof of what's causing it as well - random occurrence, no dumps, no error messages in a log.
