Native Linux 64-bit binaries are available.

$ rpm -q google-talkplugin
google-talkplugin-2.3.2.0-1.x86_64
$ file /opt/google/talkplugin/libnpgoogletalk64.so
/opt/google/talkplugin/libnpgoogletalk64.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared 
object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped

Upon installation, the RPM adds Google's yum repository so you will 
always be up-to-date.
