How about 'XKBOPTIONS="terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"'? (untested!)

Otherwise (also untested) "setxkbmap -option terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"
in ".profile" could be an option.

In GNOME, it can be done through the keyboard preferences ("Layouts"
tab and "Layout Options").
