I'm sure it is.  One of the things I was delighted to find in XFCE was 
that when you right-click on the desktop, the context menu includes the 
complete Main Menu as an option.  It's something I remember from many 
years ago before there were panels, but I'd almost forgotten about it. 
Now, I never go down to the panel for the menu unless my mouse is right 
there because a simple right-click is so much easier.  I'm glad that 
Gnome 3 is working out well for you as I like to see comments like this 
as a counter-balance to all the Doom and Gloom from those who don't like it.
