I think I said that I cannot ping or ssh into the remote IP,
but I can access it with openvpn.

I'm afraid this gets as far as the same site:

traceroute -I seems to get one stop further:

13  ibs-resid.milano50.mil.seabone.net (93.186.128.74)  74.827 ms  
69.996 ms  72.448 ms
