Ah. Well:

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec
Codec: Conexant CX20585

It turns out it's not listed in ALSA-Configuration.txt, and the web is 
full of sad stories.

So no joy. I guess it's just not covered by alsa yet.
