Recently upgraded VLC to 1.1.5 on my elderly P4 (single core - 3 Ghz), Nvidia 7300, and I'm seeing really bad video performance, lots of dropped frames, with 720p h264 ac3 videos. The previous version of vlc seemed to be much better.
The video works fine with mplayer, but mplayer doesn't do the subtitles correctly. Any vlc tuning tips?
