Works for me. Run "xev" from a terminal and use the second mouse button
in its X window. What is printed to the terminal when you do that? You
should see:

This is what I get with the right button "2" only here it's button 3 as
it also is on the F-13 computer which works as expected. Both computers
call it button 3, I don't know why. There are four, 1, 3, 8, and 9 on
this Logitech trackball that we use on all our computers.
It works as is but it is very inconvenitent. The right button brings up
a menu and you have to tell it to copy, then repeat the process to
paste. Hopefully it will "get better" after a few updates.

2. I need to set the optimum screen resolution for this older Dell
LCD but don't know how to display the model number to Google for the
spec's. Yes I know I could get a flashlight and magnifier and read it
off the back but that would mean disturbing my physical setup, and I am
spoiled ...
I'm not sure how to look up EDID information from within X, but you can
check /var/log/Xorg.0.log. There should be a line in there that says
"Monitor name:".
I had to bite the bullet and get the model number and then was able to
Google for the specs. Apparently the display is running at the optimum
settings, [1280x1024 60.0*+]. For some reason I have to do a lot of
scrolling to view things like my dd-wrt router information in Firefox.
It may be the difference in aspect ration for two different monitors.
This older LCD is proportioned more like a crt while the other is much
wider.
