That is strange.
For a while I was using the Ralink driver for the
Ralinktech 2860 mini pci wireless card.
That driver always downloaded the firmware
automatically and the user did not have to do
that manually.
I am suprised that the BCM driver does not do the same.
Since it is now an open source driver, can you look inside
the driver to see where it tries to read in the firmware
file in order to send it to the wifi chip?
