I'm pretty sure that on desktop the "FedoraWorkstation" zone should be set by 
default.  By default these are going ot be fairly restrictive and only allow a few common 
services/ports enabled out of the box.  You can add any additional that you'd need.

You can run "firewall-cmd --list-all-zones" from a commandline to show all of 
the configured zones along with any services or ports they currently allow.  It should 
also show which zone(s) are currently active.
