Thanks for your answer and sorry for my late reply - I only just found
the time to try another installation. And you're right, I completely
overlooked the three dot "⁝" menu in the upper right corner, under which
the "Launch storage editor" item is hidden. I guess I'll have to use a
monitor with a lower resolution next time ;).

Using this tool, allocating partitions was easy (although, I like the
previous concept of "determine everything and then do everything" more
than immediately performing actions on individual partitions).

Placing the "Launch storage editor" menu in the hidden menu at the top
right seems unfortunate and unintuitive to me - IMO, it would be much
better to place it directly as one of the menus in the "How would you
like to install?" paragraph.
Or at least mention the editing option under the "Share disk with other
operating system" item - with/instead of the current "Not enough free
space on the selected disks"...
