Hi,
In trying to get the nvidia drivers to compile with the 6.18 test
kernel I made my desktop not load with any kernel (at one stage I even
had dnf produce file conflicts issue on a package conflicting with
itself, I didn't record any details on which package it was), so to get
a usable system back again I reinstalled F43 from the live DVD I have.
With the reinstall of F43 the live DVD wanted a minimum of 3 mount
points, /, /boot and /boot/efi. As I was using the same partitions for
those as my previous installation I told the installer to reformat the /
and /boot partitions, as part of this the installer did not provide a
dropdown to specify what format to use, and it's format was EXT4 rather
than BTRFS, is this what it is supposed to do given that I thought
Fedora had standardised on BTRFS for it partitions?
Also, with the reinstall, when the installer got to the point of
installing the boot loader it continually failed until I deleted the
fedora folder from /boot/efi, I didn't reformat /boot/efi because I
thought that would have destroyed the Windows boot loader. Why doesn't
the installer delete the fedora folder in /boot/efi if it finds it
already exists?
