Could be completely co-incidental. All things on the internet are
forever being fiddled with.

I don't make a great use of gmail (because it is a pain), it really
only gets used on Android apps that demanded registration and the one
or two people I know who use gmail where its spam detection is
completely whacko (false flagging according to gmail's presumptions).

The features it offers in different locations, or on different servers,
may not all be the same. It's probably worth logging into gmail,
clicking the settings cog icon, then the "see all settings" link that
appears at the to of "quick settings" and read through all the options
it presents you.

It could also be due to a new version of Thunderbird. What it does
with apparent duplicate mail, or how it and gmail interact. Again, go
through its settings, read them and adjust any settings that seem
pertinent.

As mentioned by me before I use Evolution, and generally my interaction
with gmail is using it via IMAP in Evolution. It actually makes gmail
more like a normal mail server, I actually have folders, not that
stupid everything sits in your inbox, fiddling with labels, and having
to search for things.

Gmail was infamous for being a new paradigm for email (making it an
incoherent mess would be my description). You may need to look in your
sent folder for things that went through the list, it might presume
they belong there. But you may find that its peculiar behaviour isn't
something you can adjust (if gmail is the actual cause of your
problems).

I'll try sending you a direct email about one of my list managing
tricks (since it's an anti-spam thing, the less public the better).
