You do realize that replacing the OEM content of GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR= needn't be
anything other than a simple string? I have a massive collection of
installations
containing /etc/default/grub, among which all are either empty, or contain
simple
strings of 11 characters or less. The value it contains, however determined, is
what decides the boot directory name on the ESP. I'm aware of no other purpose
it
serves.
