This is a fatal error and Geany will now quit.
Doesn't actually quit, have to do Ctrl-C

Why would you be running "geany" as the root user anyway?
I tested "sudo gedit" and it works fine, but of course I'm using
Wayland. If you're using X, you'll probably have to grant permissions.
Hi Michael, I've just installed geany for the first time and run it as,
for example, sudo geany /etc/fstab , and I had no issues running it
that way to edit a file owned by root.
Just following on from one of Samuel's comments, that program seems to
be a development type editor like Eclipse is, rather than a straight
forward text editor, particularly when it seems to have a built in
window to capture compiler output. One thing I don't like with it is it
seems to be invocation environment sensitive, in terms of looking at the
first screen in its preferences there is a default projects path which
for a normal user is a sub-folder of their home whereas if it is invoked
under sudo it sets that path to a sub-folder of root.
