Glad you found a "solution".   Many years of experience with linux has taught me to always have a USB dongle with in-kernel support for times when the built-in WiFi fails (usually away from home in a meeting and trying to fix issues with linux updates that require changes to software I'm supporting).

I do have such a thing now!
