When I ordered my desktop, I was told by 2 different salesmen that cases
are no longer made with 5 1/4 inch slots. So I cannot do a blu-ray

everything that I saw was limited to USB-2 connections.
I'm pretty sure they still make cases with 5 1/4 inch slots. I bought
one a few months ago ;-) But I was also building my own TrueNAS
server, so maybe they are getting hard to find unless you DIY?
I tried to go DIY, but it really overwhelmed me, trying to figure out
what all the part IDs and specs mean, what's compatible with what, and
what needs what else. This had already dragged out for months. I could
not figure out what to get. A local friend (retired IT professional)
suggested a local PC store. The store has been in business for many
years, and came highly recommended. I assumed the salesmen knew what
they were talking about.
I'm curious about the USB Blu-Ray drive - is it USB-2? Or USB-3 with
a USB-3 compatible USB-A connector? (In case you aren't aware, the
number refers to the speed, the letter refers to the type of
connector.)
It's LG Electronics BP60NB10. If I understand the web page info about
it correctly, it's USB-2. The web page talked about SATA, but I see no
way of connecting this thing directly to SATA. Sad; USB-2 is really slow.
You can get a regular internal drive and a USB3 external case to put it in.
