Avoid vendors who don't provide the chipset ID's, then use the ID's with
the LHWDB <https://linux-hardware.org>
"Find Parts" to make sure there is "in-kernel" support.  Some entries have
user comments that may address particular
use-cases.  "Hoops" are often due to having to use an out-of-kernel
driver.  Those may work well for the original
developer, but you can't expect ongoing support or coverage for all common
use-cases.
