If that doesn't solve the issue, make sure you have current firmware updates from Lenovo. This is likely a power management issue -- there may be some UEFI as well as Gnome settings that affect USB devices -- e.g., turning off external devices to reduce power needs at inappropriate times. There have been many issues with wake from sleep where devices don't get power back up. -- George N. White III
