The display manager shows the standard user but entering the password
just recycles back to the display manager. Switching to root logs in. A
terminal boot lets the user log in but the graphical session fails to
connect to the display. Creating an new user can log in from the display
manager.
I remember a thread like this in the past but don't know what the
resolution was.
