All, I was able to install F29 from live media. I then upgraded a release at a time upto F36. Time consuming, yes but I wanted to make sure there were no issues with the hardware.
F29 did not allow the boradcom wifi to work, this began working after the upgrade to F30 and the addition of kmod-wl from rpm fusion. F31-35 upgrades were uneventful. Upgrade to F36 found wifi not working without running a depmod; modprobe wl Thanks for all the input.
