Looking deeper while looking into another reported problem, I changed the guest
machine
from "sound ac97" to "sound ich6" and sound now works OK
I still consider this a bug but for me this is a solution.
I wonder if there are other problems with this recent
kernel-5.18.11-200.fc36.x86_64.
