Something weird happened after I installed a bunch of updates and rebooted. There were no kernel updates, or anything that I recall might be related.

Normally I have a lone "File System" icon that opens up Thunar.

After the reboot I got half a dozen icons. I recall a "Root Filesystem" icon, a "proc" icon, a "sys" icon; an icon for every filesystem mount point. It was really weird.

Additionally attaching my MP3 player, a usb-storage device, elicited no response, it was not getting auto-mounted.

I tried logging out and in, without any changes.

After another reboot things were back to normal. Just the "File System" icon that, obediently, launched Thunar. My usb-storage device was getting auto- mounted just fine.

Has anyone else seen this before, and know what's up? I'd be curious to know if there's a way to fix this up without rebooting.
